According to KFF Health News, “the Social Security Administration (SSA) has been overpaying billions of dollars to people, many on disability — then [taking] the money back, even if the government made the mistake.” For some types of Social Security benefits, SSA will withhold 50% of the monthly amount instead of 10%.
