Q: How would you describe the culture at LSLA, and what do you value most about working with your colleagues?
A: I have worked with both FPP and MVU. In both, I have found the culture to be highly collaborative and grounded in a passion to advocate for marginalized and vulnerable populations.
Q: What do you wish more people understood about the importance of foreclosure prevention and access to legal aid?
A: Foreclosure prevention is not only about saving a client’s home and preserving housing stability in the moment, but about preserving generational wealth and economic stability for low-income neighborhoods and marginalized populations.
Q: How has working with clients in the Foreclosure Prevention Unit changed the way you view the role of an attorney?
A: My experiences in the Foreclosure Prevention Unit reiterate that a strong legal advocate in many cases has to look beyond the immediate legal crises to resolve housing stability. It’s not only about resolving those immediate housing crises but counseling the client about their legal rights and tools in the community moving forward.
Q: What do you enjoy most about working with your colleagues?
A: Legal aid work carries a significant emotional and professional workload, but working with my colleagues gives me a strong sense of shared purpose and dependable teamwork.
