Houston, TX — Lone Star Legal Aid proudly announces that Fallon Hamilton Vaughn, a staff attorney on the Civil Matters in Criminal Justice Team, has been elected Director of the Houston Lawyers Association (HLA).
At the HLA’s 70th Annual Scholarship & Awards Gala held on May 3, 2025, Vaughn was also honored with the prestigious Presidential Pillar Award, recognizing her commitment to justice and community service.
Founded in 1955, the Houston Lawyers Association was established to provide African American attorneys with opportunities for professional growth, advocacy, and leadership at a time when they were excluded from other local bar organizations. Today, HLA continues to promote equal access to justice, support Black legal professionals, and serve Houston communities through mentorship, education, and civic engagement.
Fallon Hamilton Vaughn embodies this mission. At Lone Star Legal Aid, she represents clients navigating civil legal issues that arise from criminal records—work that is critical to helping people rebuild their lives and fully reenter society. One such client, Danay Jones, shared her story of transformation on lonestarlegal.org, highlighting the impact of Vaughn’s advocacy in her journey toward stability and opportunity.
“Fallon brings a vision for justice that is rooted in service,” said Clarissa Ayala, Communications Director at Lone Star Legal Aid. “Her election as HLA Director and recognition with the Presidential Pillar Award are testaments to the integrity, skill, and commitment she brings to our community.”
Fallon’s leadership at HLA is expected to continue the association’s legacy of addressing issues of inequity in the legal system. Her work at the intersection of criminal justice and civil rights offers a strong foundation for expanding access to legal resources and amplifying voices.
Lone Star Legal Aid is honored to celebrate these milestones with Fallon and looks forward to the work ahead as she leads one of Houston’s most important legal institutions.
