Lone Star Legal Aid is pleased to welcome two experienced attorneys to its Bryan and Beaumont offices. Both bring extensive backgrounds in public service and a commitment to helping individuals and families navigate challenging legal circumstances.
Miranda Doane joined Lone Star Legal Aid on September 8, 2026, as the new Managing Attorney of our Bryan office.
Miranda brings 10 years of experience representing low-income tenants and consumers with Texas RioGrande Legal Aid in South and Central Texas. Throughout her career, she has developed a strong passion for housing and consumer advocacy, helping individuals and families protect their rights and navigate legal challenges that can threaten their financial stability and housing security.
Her experience and leadership will be instrumental in supporting our Bryan office’s continued efforts to expand access to civil legal services in the surrounding communities.
Outside of work, Miranda enjoys spending time with her husband, Thomas, and their lively household of four cats and one dog.
Lone Star Legal Aid also welcomes Daniel Semanek to its Beaumont office, bringing more than 25 years of legal experience spanning public service, family law, child protection, and criminal prosecution.
Originally from Mississippi, he moved to Texas in 1986 to attend the University of Texas at Austin, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in history in 1990. He later earned his law degree from the University of Houston Law Center in 1998.
He began his legal career with the McLennan County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, serving from 1999 to 2005. His responsibilities included criminal prosecution, representing Child Protective Services, and overseeing the protective order division.
From 2005 to 2014, he served as an Assistant Attorney General with the Texas Attorney General’s Office.
He then spent a decade with Legal Aid of NorthWest Texas in Dallas, working in the family law unit from 2014 to 2024. During that time, he specialized in cases involving domestic violence and child abuse, providing legal assistance to individuals and families facing particularly difficult circumstances.
Most recently, he served as an Assistant District Attorney with the Dallas County District Attorney’s Office from 2024 to 2026, primarily representing Child Protective Services and training CPS workers.
His extensive experience in family law and child protection will be a valuable asset to Lone Star Legal Aid’s work serving vulnerable individuals and families in Southeast Texas.
Outside of his legal career, he and his wife, Isabel, are proud parents of three adult daughters. The couple enjoys traveling, hiking in state parks, and riding motorcycles.
Please join us in welcoming Miranda and Daniel to the Lone Star Legal Aid team!
