Lone Star Legal Aid Launches Rise to Recovery Initiative to Assist Those Affected by the Opioid Crisis

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Houston, TX — Lone Star Legal Aid is proud to announce the launch of its groundbreaking initiative, Rise to Recovery, aimed at providing vital legal aid to individuals and families impacted by the opioid crisis.

The opioid epidemic has had devastating consequences across our communities, leaving countless individuals facing a range of legal challenges, from child custody and visitation disputes to divorce and property division matters, employment issues, discrimination claims, debt and bankruptcy concerns, housing and eviction issues, family law disputes, contractual disputes, and more. We recognize the urgent need for comprehensive legal support in these difficult times, and are dedicated to making a difference through the Rise to Recovery initiative.

Rise to Recovery will offer legal aid in the following areas:

  • Child Custody and Visitation: Helping parents navigate complex custody and visitation issues arising from the opioid crisis to ensure the best interests of their children.
  • Divorce and Property Division: Assisting individuals in obtaining divorces, and equitably dividing property and assets.
  • Employment Issues: Addressing issues related to job loss, workplace discrimination, and wrongful termination.
  • Discrimination Claims: Offering support to those facing discrimination based on their history of substance abuse.
  • Debt and Bankruptcy: Providing guidance on managing debt, filing for bankruptcy, and securing financial stability.
  • Housing and Eviction: Protecting the housing rights of individuals facing eviction due to opioid-related challenges.
  • Family Law Disputes: Resolving family conflicts and disputes exacerbated by opioid addiction.
  • Contractual Disputes: Assisting individuals in navigating contract-related issues and disputes.
  • Expungements and Non-Dislcosures: Assisting individuals in clearing criminal records.

We are committed to helping those affected by the opioid crisis regain control of their lives through access to legal services. Rise to Recovery represents an extension of our mission, addressing the unique legal needs stemming from the opioid crisis.

“Together, we are not just offering legal aid; we are restoring hope, rebuilding lives, and reaffirming the resilience of the human spirit. This initiative is more than legal support; it’s a beacon of hope, a testament to our shared commitment to healing communities, and a reminder that no matter how challenging the path may seem, we are here to light the way,” shared Victoria Smith, Directing Attorney of Program-Wide Units.
